Online Assignment Submission FAQs (Students)

Whichever assessment tool is being used, please:

• Read carefully any instructions provided by your Instructor on what you need to do to complete the particular assignment and how and when to submit your work.
• Know whether the submission point allows you to submit more than once, or if your first submission is final.  If you are unable to submit, please first contact your instructor as the assessment links are created by them, before you log a ticket. 

• You should be able to check your assignment for Originality. Once submitted, please allow a few minutes for a report to be generated. You can see your originality reports and can resubmit until due date.

PLEASE NOTE:

DEADLINE –  Your submission needs to be completed before the deadline. It is important that you remember to upload your assignment in plenty of time as depending on your internet connection and broadband speed time for upload may verily, and you don’t want to upload your assignment late because of your internet connection.

DON’T leave everything to the last minute. Remember, being able to submit work or deliver projects on time requires time management skills. Most uploads are very fast, but depending on the size and type of the file, and or the internet connection and broadband bandwidth, upload times can vary, typically 2 minutes or up to 10 minutes in some cases. 

The first three resubmissions will generate a new Similarity Report straight away (allow a few minutes). After three resubmissions, a 24-hour wait is enforced to generate Similarity Reports for all subsequent resubmissions. Therefore, Similarity Reports for a fourth resubmission and onwards will take 24 hours to generate.

• Blackboard Assignment will allow you to submit an assignment after the due date if your lecturer created a Blackboard Assignment,  and will notify your lecturer that it was a late submission. What this means in terms of your grade is governed by module policy.
• Turnitin might not allow you, depending on how the assignment was set up. Please contact your lecturer for more information.

• Please provide us with the module name or ID and the assignment name. We will then check and get back to you. How to contact us.

• Before the deadline: Students should be able to resubmit unless the instructor has restricted the number of submissions. In this case, you will need to contact your ML (module leader). The ML will then contact us if they need help.

• After the deadline:

  Unfortunately, we cannot delete your submission (even if you have MC/SC approved). The University has a ‘fit to sit’ policy, which means that when you submitted the assessment, you declared yourself fit to do so. If you now believe that you were unfit to do so, you can submit a Mitigating Circumstances Claim with the appropriate evidence that demonstrates that you were unfit to take the assessment and that you were unfit to know it at the time.

• First, please check with your lecturer or module leader as they manage the content within their modules.
• If the problem persists and the content has been published on the Blackboard module, but you still cannot access it, please contact us.

• Both Turnitin and Blackboard assignments accept file sizes up to 100 MB and 800 pages, however, your files should not exceed the 100 MB limit.
• If the Blackboard assignment is using the SafeAssign option, then the file size must be less than 10 MB for the similarity report to be generated. (if the file is larger than 10 MB, you can still submit although SafeAssign will not be able to process the file and generate the similarity report)
